How to react in an accident

The first and most important piece of advice is: if you are involved in a traffic accident, stay calm. The NRA is proud of the fact it’s lawful for people to carry guns in their vehicles in the majority if US states. No matter how shocked and angry you are, do not automatically reach for your gun. Wait cautiously for a minute. If there is no gunfire from the other vehicles involved, it should be safe to leave your own vehicle. Now is the time to put your careful preparations into operation. Check everyone is OK. If anyone is even slightly injured, call an ambulance. Without treatment, many minor injuries grow more serious. Now exchange information with the other driver. You want their name, address, contact details, insurance company and its telephone number. Remember, everyone is supposed to carry proof of insurance when driving. The information you need is on that card. You should carry a preprinted card with all your information to speed this process.

Now comes the important part. We all forget the detail of what happened. Worse, because we prefer to remember ourselves in the right, we tend to forget any details that might show us in the wrong. So record as much as possible. If you have a camera in your handphone, take pictures of the scene, of the damage to the vehicles, of any obvious injuries, and of any other feature that might show how and why the accident happened, e.g. a stop sign that has fallen at a junction, broken glass on the road causing a tire blow-out, etc. If you do not have a camera, take detailed notes, draw a plan of the scene showing where the vehicles started off and where they ended up, and sketch an outline of the vehicles and mark where there is obvious damage. Should there be witnesses, get their names and contact details. Should it come to a dispute about who was at fault, this could be vital evidence in your favor from an independent source. If an ambulance or police officers attend the scene, take their names. Once you have collected all the information, always file a report at a convenient police department, sheriff’s office, etc. In many US states, this is a legal requirement. It’s often a precondition of being able to claim from your insurer.

Report to your insurer as soon as possible and file a claim. A claims adjuster will contact you to review the facts, discuss who was at fault and decide where to have your vehicle repaired. If there are questions about medical treatment and its cost, this will also be agreed. Never agree to a quick settlement unless you are absolutely sure there are no claims likely to come for personal injuries and losses flowing from those injuries. If you follow these simple steps, the hopes you had when you received those car insurance quotes, will be turned into reality as the insurer pays up quickly and without hassle. If you cannot reach agreement with your insurer, say because there’s a dispute over the value of your vehicle, remember your state’s Department of Insurance operates a complaints process to resolve all these problems. Before acting on car insurance quotes, always check the records of complaints published by the local Department. It can save you pain when making a claim.

Is HSA relevant to ordinary americans?

The Health Savings Account (HSA) has a colorful reputation. Depending on who you ask, it’s either the best thing ever to come on to the healthcare market, representing a sweet investment opportunity for the healthy and wealthy, or it’s an unaffordable luxury plan of no relevance to the ordinary, low- and middle-income American. Well, let’s start with Read the rest of this entry »

How vehicle insurers are rated?

The internet is both a blessing and a curse. At the click of a mouse (or a twitch of your finger), you can now summon up a small mountain of information about just about everything. So, if we google Chinese restaurants San Francisco to plan our meal out, we get 35,400,000 hits. That’s just too much information. No-one could ever work through the first one-hundred thousand let alone millions. That’s why the second and third hits are potentially useful. They are “Top 10″ sites. Except, after years of experience, we all know many of the Top 10 sites are rigged. Either they are straight advertising sites with fake reviews posted, or the site owners balance out all the real bad with fake good reviews to make it look like the jury is still out. The idea of a rating or ranking agency only works when it is independent and fearless, i.e. prepared to post honest information despite all the threats of defamation actions that can be triggered. Unfortunately, we have also just watched the financial rating agencies give top grades to a passel of derivatives and bonds now only fit for feeding to the dogs. The curse is easily stated. Appearances can be deceiving on both sides of the fence. A top insurance company can look successful and have high ratings, but turn out to be a dog when you make a claim. Insurance over the holidays

This is being written as we approach Thanksgiving and most people will be meeting up with family and friends to celebrate. As we plan for these big holidays, the main focus tends to be on planning the menu for the feast, buying the food and deciding who’s going to be responsible for laying in the alcohol. Not that many take out the auto policy to check nothing will go wrong with their insurance. This is a mistake. There will be bumper-to-bumper traffic on all the main routes as everyone gets on to the road to get where they are going. These are the busiest times of the year on the road. At peak times on regular days, the usual suspects are making their commuter runs to and from work or dropping off the kids at school. These are the seasoned drivers with years of experience. Switch to a national holiday and you have a completely different look and feel to the roads. Read the rest of this entry »

What is happen to the weather?

For the last year, the US has been focused on healthcare. Politicians of all shades of opinion have been pitching in on how well or badly the insurance industry serves the people when they are injured or fall ill. This has diverted attention away from the other hazards and perils supposedly covered by insurance policies. Go back to 2005 and Hurricane Katrina forced the question of insurance against weather perils on to the national scene. Katrina was one of the most devastating hurricanes of all time, and it forced Americans to have another more detailed look at who should pay for losses when the weather comes into town. For months, there were headlines about seemingly high-profile cases being fought through the courts on what exactly was covered as storm damage. Then, it all faded away. People may still struggle to find storm and flood insurance depending on where they live, the policies may be written in ways that limit the insurers’ liability, but the news media has moved on to other problems. For now, you are on your own. Read the rest of this entry »

Finally, even if you cannot afford a full alarm system, there are cheap ways of protecting your property. Read the rest of this entry »

Change your life Now

Also known as “impotence”, erectile dysfunction is a man’s inability to achieve an erection in order to perform sexual intercourse. The term “erectile dysfunction” refers specifically to the erection whereas “impotence” is also used quite often to refer to other problems associated with sexual intercourse and reproduction such as a lack of sexual desire or problems with ejaculation.

The Penis and Erections

An erection is achieved when muscles, blood vessels, nerves and hormones all work together. When the brain senses sexual stimulation or arousal, it sends nerve signals to the penis. Arousal can be caused in various ways such as through touching, visual or auditory stimulation, or a fantasy or dream. These nerve signals cause muscle relaxation in the penis and as a result, blood is allowed to flow and collect in the spongy tissue. This causes the penis to inflate as it grows larger and firmer. Blood is prevented from flowing out by veins which close themselves off.

Causes of Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction has various causes most commonly physical causes in older men such as disease, injury or a side-effect of drugs. Any injury to the nerves or blood flow in the penis could potentially cause ED.
Most men will never experience erectile dysfunction. It is not inevitable as a man grows older. However, 5% of 40 year-old men do suffer with ED, as do between 15% and 25% of 65 year-olds.

Treatment

Nowadays there are many ways to treat erectile dysfunction. More sufferers seek treatment as awareness grows that the condition is treatable at any age. Successful, improved treatment of ED allows many men to return to normal sexual activity.

Examples of how to treat erectile dysfunction include counseling (the cause can be psychological), medications, devices such as a vacuum or implanted device and where the condition is caused by damage to veins or arteries, surgery is another option. Research into treating erectile dysfunction is extensive and ever-increasing. As always, patients should consult their clinician about the latest and most suitable treatments.

Statistics

The term “erectile dysfunction” is used to covers a range of severity from a complete inability to achieve an erection, to an inconsistent ability, or the inability to sustain an erection for a long enough period to perform sexually. Due to this broad range, it is difficult to Read the rest of this entry »

Choice between term or permanent insurance

Perhaps it’s the wrong way to think about insurance, but it’s really nothing more than a form of licensed gambling. You find this insurance company prepared to take you on and then place a bet on how long you are going to live. The insurance companies studies the form guide and decides how long people like you tend to live. It sets the premium and the jackpot number. If you die within the first few years, your family are big winners. They hit the jackpot for just a few premium instalments. But if you live far longer than expected, the insurance company wins big because it has the use of all your money during your lifetime and only pays back the sum agreed. That’s one of the interesting things about inflation. What looks a big number now may be peanuts in fifty years time. That’s why buying a policy with a fixed benefit is such an interesting bet.
